In Loving Memory of Stinky

We lost Stinky on Friday March 14, 2008. He had just turned 14 years old and finally succumbed to blindness and deafness. It was an extremely difficult decision to makes, but we knew his quality of life was no more. His daddy dressed him in his PJs and we gave him some of his favorite foods including some chocolate, cheese, "Missy Food", and liver treats. His sister Lexi, got to kiss and hug him goodbye and he took one last car ride to say Goodbye to Grandma.

The vet sedated him and daddy held him close as he dozed off. We wanted his final memory to be of him close to us, We told him how much we loved him and that we will never forget his love. We hugged and kissed him and cried. Once we heard him snoring loudly we knew it was time to send him to the angels. As he was given the shot, Daddy picked him up and cradled him. His body fell lifeless and he took his final breaths. We spent quite some time with him holding him, not wanting to let go. We gave him more hugs and kisses and again told him we loved him.Daddy had a very special casket for him and we lined it with Daddy's fleece sweatshirt. Before we placed him in the casket we put his collar and leash on him. This was our way of knowing he will be ready for us to walk him again one day. With his blue pjs on, we laid him gently into the casket. Lexi gave him her Susie Bunny to take with him, so Daddy placed Susie under Stinky's arm. We also included his favorite pair of Jeans and Bite Me shirt. Daddy taped up the casket so no animals or bugs could get to him and we drove him home to be buried.

His resting place is a nicely leveled plot next to our shed. We can see him from all rooms on the back side of the house. We ordered a headstone personalized for him that we will place here. Once the weather warms up we will plant flowers here for him. After we buried him, we took Lexi to show her where he rests. She kissed the rock that marks his grave and said "Love You Too Stinky".
